Hotel ZH Cancún
Seeking a balance between restrained, timeless architecture and an organic, contemporary character, this as-yet-unnamed hotel is an exercise in environmental respect and in making the most of what the site offers. Preserving the existing green areas and foundations, the hotel sits at the back of the plot and rises vertically to gain views over the treetops that end in the beautiful ocean horizon Cancún is known for. With a focus on the phenomenology of space, it captures every aspect of what makes an experience: sound, stillness, the seduction of light, the harmony of materials and the awareness of space — all built on the premise that every human experience is shaped by all of the senses.
With restaurants that sway above the trees, beach clubs where palm trees grow in the middle of the dance floor, rooms that hide bathtubs behind bamboo, multipurpose spaces that float gently over the water and contemplative lookouts, this hotel proposes a new and refreshing take on tourism in Cancún.
