A Hidden Oasis in Puerto Aventuras: Architecture at Its Best
Set in the paradise of Puerto Aventuras, Mexico, this house redefines the harmony between modern architecture and nature. Designed by MAAR Arquitectura Humana, the project stands out for having its own natural cenote, transformed into a pool that does not merely decorate but becomes the heart of the residence.
At MAAR, respecting nature is not just an ideal but a priority. In every project, integration with the setting is the starting point, making sure the design does not impose itself but rather coexists with and enhances the natural elements of the place. Here, the cenote not only beautifies the residence — it seems to wrap around it organically, creating a perfect synergy between architectural design and surroundings.

Celebrating nature in every space
The residence uses native materials that bring out the essence of the region and give character to every corner. Maya stone on the façade and main structures connects the house visually and emotionally to its roots, providing a robust, timeless look. Chukum walls, a finish typical of the Yucatán peninsula, wrap the spaces in warm tones and organic texture, while travertine floors provide continuity, creating a soft, natural transition between the different areas.

Details such as the timber ceilings and decking and the wood-clad metalwork add warmth and balance, completing the design with an artisanal touch. Black steel beams at the entrance and in the bar provide an elegant contrast, bringing a modern note to the house without clashing with its natural character.
A design that celebrates the landscape
The house is arranged over three floors around an open central courtyard that respects the existing vegetation, particularly the native trees, which provide natural shade and help cool the environment. The courtyard acts as a gathering point and an extension of the kitchen, creating an ideal space for open-air family meals and get-togethers, while allowing every area of the house to connect visually and functionally with the surrounding nature.

The cenote is the emblematic element that inspires and organises the whole architectural design, offering a space for rest and contemplation. The interior spaces — kitchen, dining room, study, games room, bar and five guest bedrooms, plus two service rooms — unfold organically around the cenote, ensuring views over the water from every corner of the house.

Modern architecture woven into nature
This project represents a modern, sustainable approach to architecture that puts the connection with the natural setting first. The house not only makes the most of the beauty of the cenote, it invites its residents into a direct and respectful relationship with nature. Rather than altering the site, the design adapts to it, bringing modernity and ecology together in a single space.

This residence, designed by MAAR Arquitectura Humana, is ideal for anyone looking for a home in Puerto Aventuras that combines luxury, comfort and an immersive experience of nature. Its modern design and use of native materials appeal not only to those drawn to innovative architecture but also to those committed to sustainability and respect for the environment
