MAAR: Nominated for the America Best of the Best Awards at the Golden Tree Awards
MAAR Arquitectura Humana has been nominated for the prestigious America Best of Best Awards 2024 in the Best Architectural Firm in Mexico category, presented by the Golden Tree Awards. The recognition highlights the firm’s exceptional contribution to architecture, above all through its most recent work: Impression Moxché by Secrets and Secrets Moxché. Developed together with the acclaimed interior designer Alejandro Escudero and the developer MM Desarrollos, the project has not only redefined the standards of luxury hotel design but also earned the firm another award this month, cementing its position as an industry leader.

Impression Moxché by Secrets and Secrets Moxché stand out for their innovative approach and their respect for the natural setting, achieving a harmonious integration between architecture and landscape. Every detail has been designed to give visitors a unique experience, combining elegance and functionality with an absolute commitment to sustainability and excellence. The project has been celebrated for its visionary design and its ability to create spaces that reflect the identity of the destination, honouring the legacy of MAAR Arquitectura Humana.
A Legacy of Human-Centred Design
Founded in 2014 by Luis Enrique Macedo Ramírez, MAAR Arquitectura Humana has established itself as a firm that pushes the limits of architectural design. Its philosophy of Arquitectura Humana — human architecture — centres on creating spaces that put people’s wellbeing first and encourage a harmonious coexistence with the natural environment. The firm has built its reputation on innovation and on a modern approach with a distinctly Mexican identity, always adapting to the particularities of each project.

A New Project Inspired by the Architectural Jewels of Mexico and the Mediterranean
Within its portfolio of visionary projects, MAAR Arquitectura Humana is also working on a development called Lahun Tikú, located on Playa Tikú, on the Costa Maya in Mahahual. Due for completion in late 2025, the project draws inspiration from Mexico’s pueblos mágicos and from Mediterranean towns, blending traditional and contemporary architectural styles.

Lahun Tikú is characterised by its terraces with pools, which evoke the famous Greek caves and the natural pools of Tolantongo in Mexico.
The concept behind the development sets out to honour Mexican cultural identity while incorporating elements of Mediterranean architecture, achieving a symbiosis between the two. Drawing on the emblematic architecture of Tulum and weaving in a Mediterranean touch, Lahun Tikú is shaping up as a boutique hotel that will offer its guests unique sensations, inviting them to experience the beauty of the Costa Maya from an architecturally and culturally enriched perspective.

The recent nomination for Best Architectural Firm at the America Best of Best Awards underlines the ability of MAAR Arquitectura Humana to turn concepts into architectural realities without losing sight of functionality and sustainability. With an integrated approach that runs from urban planning to interior design, every project carries the essence of the practice: to create more than buildings — to create experiences.
