MAAR Arquitectura Wins Gold at the Urban Design & Architecture Design Awards 2026

At MAAR Arquitectura we have been recognised with the gold medal at the Urban Design & Architecture Design Awards 2026 for our Thompson Private Residences Puerto Cancun project. The international recognition reaffirms our commitment to an architecture that brings together design, functionality and context in every project we develop.

From the outset, we conceived Thompson Private Residences Puerto Cancun as a response to the unique setting of Puerto Cancún. We wanted to create a proposal that would not merely fit into the landscape but converse with it, understanding architecture as an active part of its urban and natural surroundings.

One of the project’s main aims was to redefine contemporary vertical living. Through a strategic layout, we designed spaces that balance social, private and wellbeing areas, creating a complete residential experience in step with the way people live today.

The façade and the architectural elements were designed to respond to factors such as orientation, natural light and ventilation. Every decision aims to improve the interior experience, while spaces such as the rooftop Sky Beach expand the way the shared areas of the project are lived.

This recognition is an important achievement for our team and encourages us to keep developing architecture with a clear, sensitive and functional vision.
