How Much Does an Architecture Project Cost in Mexico? What Nobody Tells You
It is the question every client wants to ask first, and the one fewest studios answer clearly. The reason is not that the figure is a secret: it is that “how much does it cost” depends on variables that change the answer completely. Here we explain what it depends on, so you arrive at your first meeting with the right questions.
What the cost depends on
- The square metres and the complexity of the project (a house is not the same as a hotel development).
- The location and the site: topography, soil type, local regulations.
- The level of finishes and any special installations (pool, central air conditioning, home automation).
- The stage you are contracting: design only, design and site supervision, or a full turnkey project.
Design fees are not “the drawing”
When you pay an architecture fee, you are paying for the preliminary design, the construction documents (structural, electrical and plumbing drawings) and, in many cases, site supervision. It is the work that keeps construction from stopping halfway through because a drawing was missing.
Why the initial budget is almost never the final cost
A project that is poorly planned from the start generates changes on site, and changes on site always cost more than resolving them on paper. The real saving is therefore not in cutting the design fee, but in investing properly at that stage so the construction budget holds.
At MAAR we work with clear budgets from the preliminary design onwards, with no surprises halfway through the build. Talk to us and we will help you size up your project.
